KLUWIH SUNDA AUTHENTIC

INTRODUCTION

Established in 2017, Kluwih has been recommended by President Jokowi as a family restaurant. Kluwih serves authentic Sundanese cuisine presented on banana leaves.

The name "Kluwih" is inspired by a type of tree with a hard, thorny bark. "Kluwih" or "leuwih" (excess) signifies an abundance of blessings flowing to its surroundings. The Kluwih tree, which existed long before the restaurant was built, has been intentionally preserved and incorporated into the restaurant building as a symbol of Kluwih's eco-friendliness.

The architectural concept is modern with a tropical touch, yet Kluwih has ensured that the building is disability-friendly, featuring a circular ramp that serves as a staircase.

CONCEPT OF THE BUILDING

From the outset of the design process, architecture and interior design were intertwined as a creative engine. The design of Kluwih merges environmental sustainability with the restaurant's brand image.

For a solid architectural design concept, the basic layout naturally blends with the existing tree-lined surroundings.

The spatial layout was adapted to accommodate the existing trees. All furniture is made from natural wood, and the high ceiling, covered in randomly patterned unfinished plywood, creates a dramatic mountain-like sensation.

The lighting fixtures, made of rattan in circular shapes and placed randomly, create the ambiance of an open sky with stars.

The placement of green "Lee Kuan Yew" plants along all the front edges of the layout enhances the fresh, green feel both indoors and outdoors. The final touch in the interior concept, and another selling point, is the thematic wall graphics featuring birds and rabbits, completing the overall natural concept.
